Set of 5 Bookcase Cabinets by Bertil Fridhagen for Bodafors, Early 1960's Sweden
Stunning set in walnut, which can be connected to form one unit, the bookcase with adjustable shelves above three drawers and a pair of doors, together with a smaller example and a side cabinet with three drawers and a pair of cupboard doors, all bearing maker's stamp, `Bodfars Design B Fridhagen Made in Sweden 1962` with original keys.
Bertil Fridhagen lived from 1905-1993.
The smaller unit (marked 1962) features one drawer with two dividers inside, and one shelf inside the cabinet underneath. The detachable bookshelf above has 3 shelves that slide in and out to change position of the wires on which they are held. The top shelving and bottom cabinet attach with brass fitting on the back.
The larger unit (marked 1960) has 3 drawers and 2 cabinet doors below, each with one adjustable shelf inside.
One shelf has been remade at some point when the original was lost, but is not very noticeable.
The 2nd 3-drawer/2-cabinet sideboard unit is identical to the other, without the shelving unit above.
The dimensions of the separate pieces are:
Each bookcase is 9 7/8" deep x 47" tall and the smaller unit is 24 3/4" wide and the larger unit is 51 1/4" wide.
Each of the 3 cabinets is 15 3/4" deep x 26 1/2" tall and the smaller unit is 25 3/4"wide and the larger units are 51 1/4" wide.
